Students and the community are invited to learn about Western Nevada College’s technical and manufacturing programs from 5-8 p.m. Oct. 3.

Visitors can tour WNC’s technology programs and hear brief presentations from college faculty members. They can participate in information sessions and hands-on shop sessions, and attendees will have a chance to win one of two WNC course scholarships, a book scholarship or other prizes. Admission is free.

WNC’s welding and precision machining programs are aligned with the National Manufacturing Skills Certification System, allowing students to earn nationally transportable credentials for careers in manufacturing.

Several other WNC technical programs that support manufacturing will be on display, including automated systems, construction project management and general industrial technology.

A number of area manufacturers are offering a tour for the public Oct. 4. Among the manufacturers confirmed are Click Bond, Cinc Industries, Micromanipulator, Vitamin Research Products, CGI Inc., Custom Stamping, RedCo and Durabond of Carson City.

To register or for more information on each manufacturing event, go to www.mfgday.com/events or call 775-445-3241. For information about the manufacturing tours, call Begley at 775-445-4299. Students younger than 18 must be accompanied by a parent or teacher; student groups of more than five people must register in advance.
