WNC softball team plans 5K run/walk

The Western Nevada College softball team is sponsoring a 5K run/walk set for 3 p.m. Nov. 3 in Carson City.

The headquarters for the race, which will raise money for the team’s upcoming season, is at El Charro Avitia Mexican restaurant, 4389 S. Carson St.

WNC launched the Wildcats 5K softball fundraiser a year ago to help pay for travel expenses. The entry fee $30 is for adults and $15 for ages 8-17; it includes a dinner buffet at El Charro Avitia and race T-shirt. Children younger than 8 can participate for free, while kids 8 to 17 can enter for $15.

Online registration is available until Nov. 1 at bit.ly/1bhA9Mn. Runners/walkers also can register on race day.
