Economic development people or other groups in rural Nevada may apply for grants to help businesses or create revolving loan funds for firms, according to the U.S. Department of Agriculture.
Sarah Adler, USDA Rural Development state director based in Carson City, said the USDA rural development’s Rural Business Enterprise Grant program has an estimated $82,060 available to help create or grow sustainable rural business opportunities and jobs. Individual business aren’t directly eligible.
Those who may apply are Native American tribes that are recognized federally, public bodies, private nonprofit corporations and rural development authorities. The funds awarded may be used by those organizations or entities to help in such things as business planning, feasibility analyses, technical assistance, infrastructure, equipment and revolving loan funds for start-ups or working capital needs.
“The RBEG is a very effective tool that aids in assessing and bringing to life business development opportunities,” said Adler. “However, given the limited funding we have available, we are encouraging applications of $40,000 or less.”
