Support Fallon’s reunion weekend

Many graduates look forward to returning to the city in which they first established their roots and attended school.

So, too, did many educators who accepted their first or second teaching job in Churchill County and decided to put down roots and stay her for their entire career.

Likewise, residents who never attended schools in Churchill County but their children have developed a strong loyalty to the Greenwave and to the area they now call home.

The second biggest weekend to celebrate Fallon’s involvement with the state’s sesquicentennial will welcome alums, teachers and friends of Churchill County schools as they converge in Fallon for an all-class reunion.

Billed as the first annual Community Wide Reunion, classes from every generation are invited to a weekend of fun activities and to connect with friends from previous classes.

For those who moved away years ago, Fallon and Churchill County have changed tremendously as have many other communities in the Silver State.

Planning began on this community event during the winter months with the intent to make this an annual affair and to showcase the city and its activities for those individuals who may be coming to Fallon for the first time in years.

The Class of 1964 is celebrating its 50th year anniversary this weekend with its activities beginning on Thursday with registration and a tour of Lattin Farms. Other tours include a trip to Enel Green Energy’s Stillwater plant and a visit to Churchill Vineyards.

For all the classes and friends of the Greenwave, though, other activities are also plentiful with tours of the museum, Old High School and Oats Park School.

People from all the classes will be able to see each other Saturday afternoon at Oats Park where attendees can bring a picnic basket or buy food from the Fallon Youth Club.

Saturday’s concludes with the drawing of the winner of the Live Local Fallon car and then a conceit in the park presented by the Dusty 45s.

On Sunday, the Fallon Elks will offer breakfast. Many old-timers are quick to remember the Elks Lodge where so many past reunions were held.

It is reunion committee’s intent to meet every year to build this community wide event into an larger event to bring together people from all classes and generations.
