People interested in serving as volunteer members on Carson City’s Cultural Commission may apply for consideration by the Board of Supervisors, according to a city government news release.
The board is seeking applications for two openings to fill citizen-at-large seats on the commission, which meets at least quarterly to work with individuals and cultural organizations to enhance the arts in the community. Volunteers chosen will serve without pay and should be prepared to commit up to ten hours monthly in their roles. Meetings can last up to three hours; subcommittee and special event duties add to the total.
The commission’s main role is to provide advice to the governing board on cultural matters.
Terms are ending and provide for the openings in January, with applications being accepted until the seats are filled. Interviews for the positions are tentatively set to be conducted at a regularly scheduled board meeting on Jan. 15.
All applicants must be registered voters in Carson City to qualify, and should understand submitting their names and background information to Carson City’s executive offices, 201 N. Carson St., Unit 1, will constitute public information.
