Rotary Club of Carson City adopted 25 families from the Salvation Army’s Angel Tree program on Dec. 13.

Each year for more than 20 years Rotary has adopted families for Christmas through its mentoring program. One child from each family is invited to go shopping with two Rotarians who spend time sharing the importance of education and other positive character-building lessons. The child picks gifts for his or her family members, the Rotarian purchases the gifts, takes the child out to lunch, and then they all wrap the gifts together. Later the child is surprised to find that Santa has provided them with a gift as well.

The Rotary Club of Carson City meets at noon Tuesdays at Carson Nugget. For more information, go to carsonrotary.org or carsoncitysalarmy.org.
