Douglas County seeks missing woman

The Douglas County Sheriff’s Office is seeking the public’s help in locating a missing 22-year-old woman. Katherine Kahler’s family has not heard from her in the last three weeks, and they say her disappearance is not like her.

Her sister Rachel reported she spoke with Kahler daily up until approximately three weeks prior to the initial report, and now her phone has been turned off.

Sheriff’s Spokesman Sgt. Pat Brooks said Kahler has been known to use drugs, and it is not known if her disappearance is related to drug use.

Kahler was known to drive a 1994 Toyota Pickup. On Monday, a deputy attempted to stop the vehicle and check the welfare; however the vehicle sped away and was abandoned on Tribal property. Based on information obtained during the initial investigation, it is believed Kahler is associating with or in the presence of an acquaintance, Eric Rasmusson.

Anyone with information regarding this case is asked to call DCSO Investigator Nate Almeida at 782-9908, DCSO Investigations Main Line at 782-9905, Douglas County Communication Center at 782-5126.
