Nevada Chapter AGC awards

The Nevada Chapter of the Associated General Contractors announced its contractor of the year and skill, integrity and responsibility award winners last week at its annual SIR awards banquet at the Peppermill Resort Casino Spa.

The contractors of the year winners were:

• CORE Construction Services of Nevada. Projects in 2013 included demolition of the Getchell Library at University of Nevada, Reno and construction of a senior center in Gardnerville.

• VersaGrande, Inch of Reno. Projects for this general engineering contractor included providing disability access and wetland protection for the Stateline-to-Stateline bike path in South Lake Tahoe.

Western Nevada Supply was named supplier of the year, and Hartman Structural Engineering was named design professional of the year.

SIR awards also were given to restaurant owners Barbara and JP Pinocchio, who founded the Moms on the Run and Ride for the TaTas events to fight breat cancer, and to Leigh Berdrow, director of ACE Charter High School.
