Death of Executive Lieutenant Governor James S. Slingerland: He was born in Ann Arbor, Michigan, in 1834 and was bred a blacksmith. He settled in California in 1852 and was married at Young’s Hill in 1861. He came to Territory of Nevada in 1863 and was elected on the Republican ticket to represent Washoe County for a term of two years. He leaves a wife and two children — Eva, age 12, and Charley, age 10.
