Charter Review panel seeks suggestions

Suggestions for city charter changes are being sought from the public by Carson City’s Charter Review Committee.

“The Charter Review Committee is composed of appointed community members committed to facilitating a public review of the city’s guiding document,” said Rob Joiner, the panel’s chairman, in a news release.

“The process provides an opportunity for anyone to offer suggestions for amendments to the charger for consideration by the committee, the Carson City Board of Supervisors and, subsequently, the Nevada Legislature in 2015,” he said.

An ordinance governing the process requires that proposed amendments be heard and debated by the panel, which then advises the consolidated city’s governing board. Ultimately in Nevada, the Legislature reviews recommendations that make it that far.

Carson City’s charter document may be viewed on the city’s website at www.carson.org/crc by clicking on the charter link.

Suggested amendments may be submitted to the panel in writing through the city manager’s office at 201 N. Carson St., Ste. 2, 89701 may be mailed to that address, or emailed to cceo@carson.org.
