NHP promotes captain to major

The Nevada Highway Patrol has promoted Capt. Pat Gallagher to major.

Gallagher has been either administrative or operations commander in three major NHP centers — Las Vegas, Reno and Elko. He serves at the office of the chief in Carson City.

He becomes deputy chief of the patrol’s Southern Command Area in Las Vegas, replacing Major Dennis Osborn, who was recently named head of the patrol in Carson City.
