Group collecting clothes for youths in need

Fighters Against Child Abuse, a nonprofit corporation based in Carson City, is hosting a Jeans 4 Tweens and Teens clothing drive.

The organization is collecting new or gently used jeans and other clothing, including socks, underwear and sneakers. Members will deliver the items to schools in Carson City and Douglas and Lyon counties.

“Children are arriving daily with tattered jeans and shoes, and clothing that is too small or worn out,” said founder Joey Lee Primak. “This drive will meet the needs of impoverished children at every grade level, as well as abused, neglected and bullied children.”

Monetary donations and gift cards are also accepted.

“Summer donations will help us store clothing for the following school year or provide for a child in need during their break from school,” he said. “No child should have to wear clothing that is too small, damaged or worn out.”

Sizes needed range from ages 4 to 18.

Drop off donations at Bellissimo Gifts in the Carson Mall or at West Coast World Martial Arts, 1617 Buckeye Road in Minden. Donations may also be mailed to Fighters Against Child Abuse, 896 Meadow Vista Drive, Carson City, NV 89705. Or visit the FACA website to make a donation at www.kochildabuse.com.
