Third medallion design picked for Nevada’s 150th

The third medallion commemorating Nevada’s 150th birthday will feature three iconic Nevada landmarks.

The design featuring the “Welcome to Fabulous Las Vegas” sign, the Reno Arch and Wendover Will, a 63-foot-tall cowboy found in the town on the Utah line, was picked by school children and announced Wednesday by the Nevada Sesquicentennial Commission.

It’s the third in a series of four medallions being minted as part of Nevada’s 150th birthday celebration.

Sales will begin May 27.

Each 1-ounce silver medallion is made from silver from the Coeur Rochester Mine near Lovelock and stamped on the historic Coin Press No. 1 at the Nevada State Museum. They are available for $100.50 each.

Copper medallions are $15.

The first medallion depicted the Nevada state seal; the second had a miner.
