Two men have been arrested in the Memorial Day robbery of a 101-year-old veteran. The two broke into the home of James Sorrentino at 5 a.m., kicking in the garage door and the door from the garage to the house.

They were identified as Jordan Burkhart, 24, and Robert Hernandez, 27.

The two allegedly held the victim and his caregiver at gunpoint, demanding to know where the “safe” in the house was. There was no safe in the house.

In the end, they took just about $30 from Sorrentino and his caregiver along with other miscellaneous property.

Burkhart was arrested in Carson City without incident. Sheriff Kenny Furlong said Hernandez was arrested in Sparks after fleeing Carson City. Sparks Police took him into custody after a short vehicle chase followed by a foot chase.

Both men are charged with five felony counts including conspiracy to commit home invasion or robbery with use of a deadly weapon against a person over the age of 60, burglary with a firearm, home invasion with a firearm, robbery with a deadly weapon against a person over age 60 and assault with a deadly weapon.

All charges are Category B felonies, among the most serious in state statutes.

Bail was set at a total of $250,000 apiece.
