Gift items needed for Carson City seniors in need

For the 16th year, volunteers from Friends to All will dress up in Santa suits and helper costumes to deliver between 150 and 200 gifts to Carson City senior citizens on Saturday, Dec. 13.

This year, the group is honoring Raymond Smith, the man who inspired the program. Smith passed away in September.

Names and addresses of seniors who would enjoy a Santa visit are sought, as well as donations of cash, crossword puzzle books (large print, if possible), slipper socks, gloves, hats, scarves, handkerchiefs, lotions, lip balm, calendars, packaged small food items such as candy, cookies, or nuts, gift cards from grocery or gift stores, hair salons, barbershops, or restaurants that deliver, and anything a senior may be able to use. Cash donations are used to buy grocery store gift cards for seniors in need.

Donations are tax deductible. Checks can be made payable to Retired Senior Volunteer Program, or RSVP, with a notation of “Friends to All.” A receipt will be provided.

Mail or drop donations to A+ Paralegals, Inc., 411 W. Third St., Suite 1, Carson City 89703.

For more information or to request a volunteer to collect a donation, call 775-315-2484 or 775-301-6747 from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. Monday through Thursday.
