Nevada Highway Patrol: 2 arrests, alcohol involved in Fernley death

The Nevada Highway Patrol says alcohol played a role in a hit-and-run accident in Fernley that left one Wadsworth woman dead and two others in jail.

The patrol says 28-year-old Latasha Woods was struck and killed while walking along State Route 427 on Nov. 18.

Trooper Dave Gibson identified the two suspects Monday as 21-year-old Liann Christy and 22-year-old Katrina Paddy.

Gibson says Christy was driving and Paddy was a passenger in the pickup that hit Woods. He says Paddy later took the wheel when the truck got stuck in the desert. They eventually were stopped by a Lyon County sheriff’s deputy on I-80 west of Fernley.

Both are charged with leaving the scene of an accident causing death. Christy also was charged with driving under the influence causing death.
