Carson couple celebrates 60 years of marriage

Shirley and John Nemeth of Carson City celebrated 60 years of marriage on Thursday.

Carson City residents Shirley Lutz and John Michael Nemeth, who were married on Oct. 2, 1954, in Zelienople, Pa., celebrated their 60th anniversary on Thursday.

John was a lineman at his high school, where Shirley was the head cheerleader. The two became high school sweethearts.

John is an avid bowler and retired Air Force master sergeant. Shirley was a telephone operator, beautician and homemaker. They moved to Carson City from Niceville, Fla., in 1993.

The pair has a son, Brad Nemeth of Oak Ridge, Tenn., and a daughter, Kim Nemeth of Dayton, and one granddaughter, Kara Meroni of Clarksville, Tenn.

The Nemeths celebrated their diamond anniversary with family and friends on Thursday at the Carson Nugget Steakhouse.
