Reprinted from the Oct. 30, 1944, Carson City Daily Appeal:

Tomorrow Nevada will celebrate its 80th birthday anniversary with varied programs and celebrationis being given throughout the state on a somewhat smaller and quieter scale than in the pre-war years.

Carson City will start its celebration tonight with a pre-Admission Day dance sponsored by the local 20-30 Club to be given at the Civic Auditorium with a 10-piece band in attendance. Numerous door prizes will be awarded, the largest of which will be a palomino colt which is being donated by John Isbell.

Tomorrow’s festivities will include a rodeo which will be given at the Carson Hot Springs, sponsored by John Vance, Len Hancock and Jake Dietrich, and will be followed by dancing at the Hot Springs.

All city, county and state offices will close, as will most of the business houses of the city. There will be no Daily Appeal published tomorrow.
