Carson High School administrators took a pie the face Wednesday as a fundraiser for Link Crew, a program that pairs upperclassmen with freshmen to ease the transition to high school.

“A lot of elementary schools do it,” said Rebecca Ostrander, 15, a link leader.

“As you get older, people think you don’t want to do anything fun, but you do.”

Link Crew members sold tickets throughout the week for a chance to smash a pie in the faces of principal Tasha Fuson and vice principals Gavin Ward and Bob Chambers.

Ginny-Mei Adams, 16, was drawn Wednesday for the honor, along with Anahi Mariscal, 16, and social studies teacher Will Howk.

“I’d rather eat it, but you know, I can pie them in the face,” Adams said.

More than $200 was raised for the group.

“We need money to take our kids to leadership training in California in November,” said adviser MaryAnne Weaver.

Link leader Kassidy Cox, 16, said the event was a success.

“It’s cool to see kids get involved,” she said. “A lot of times, they don’t want to get involved, but they’re like, ‘Yeah, I’ll pie an administrator in the face.’”
