Participation for 6th annual 5K event expected to increase again this year
The 6th annual Cancer Sucks 5K will be at 8 a.m. Oct. 4 at the Sierra Nevada Association of Realtors, 300 S. Curry St.
“Participation in the Cancer Sucks 5K has continued to grow steadily year after year, and our hope and plan is that we can we continue to grow this event in order to give back to members in our community who have been affected by this devastating disease,” said Heidi McFadden, event organizer and co-owner of the RCM Realty Group in Carson City. “It was an honor last year to donate close to $8,000 to the Carson Tahoe Health Foundation, an organization that directly supports and benefits local cancer patients.”
The run will begin near the corner of Third and Curry streets, and will weave through Carson City’s west side among vendors, music and supporters. Registration fees are $30 for individuals 18 and under, $25 per person for teams of eight or more, and $20 for runners/walkers 17 and under.
