The violent windstorm of last Saturday culminated in a little snow flurry on Tuesday evening, but it cleared off before 9 o’clock and started in for a regular freezer. Mr. Friend, the jeweler, who keeps a registered thermometer, says he recorded 19 degrees during the night. At the Glenbrook hotel, it was seven degrees. This is as cold as it is required for April.

The Reese River Reveille complains people from China are in the habit of dragging seines in Reese River, catching fish of all sizes. They do this sort of fishing in the night.

Daniel Webster Harrier, aged 81 years, died at his home in Oakland a few days ago. He was a native of Pennsylvania and came west in 1854, and drove a stagecoach all through the Civil War, between Virginia City and Grass Valley, Calif.

Walter Burroughs, former president of Sigma Delta Chi, the National Journalism Society, will be the guest speaker at the Saturday meeting of the Nevada State Press Association in Las Vegas. The Appeal staff is to attend the conference.

Trent Dolan is the son of Bill Dolan, who wrote this column for the Nevada Appeal from 1947 until his death in 2006.
