The Board of Supervisors is seeking applicants for four slots on Carson City’s Shade Tree Council.

Applications will be taken until May 8 for the council seats, three of which are for full terms ending in January of 2017 and the fourth for an unexpired term ending in January, 2017. Volunteers serve without compensation and are expected to make a commitment of up to 10 hours monthly. The council meets the first Wednesday of every other month at 5:30 p.m. in the Community Center’s Sierra Room.

Applicants must be registered to vote in Carson City and should be aware that applications submitted to the executive offices at City Hall, 201 N. Carson St., are public information. Interviews will be conducted upon receipt of qualified applicants and at a regularly scheduled meeting of the city’s governing board. Meetings are held on the first and third Thursdays of each month.

The council provides advice to the mayor and supervisors on matters concerning the development, maintenance, management and promotion of a safe, healthy and attractive urban forest in the community.
