Silver City has organized a Fire Department with 26 enrolled names for a starter. There are a number of Babcock’s fire extinguishers in that place, and they will be put in good order and distributed around town. They ought to have a steam-fire engine.

Miss Clapp’s dog, Brutus, one of the largest dogs in the state and probably the most savage, was poisoned yesterday and thrown over the fence. The dog died in a few hours. Some years ago Brutus was matched in this city to fight a grizzly bear, and got his picture in the Police Gazette.

Our city jitney service will discontinue on April 20 on account of the progressiveness of our city councilmen whose judgement sees fit to place a $15 quarterly tax for the privilege of running over their valuable unkept streets. Signed, F.B. Sullivan, Manger, Capitol Garage.

Rearing of Nevada game birds by the state will be started during the current year and will reach full operation by 1946, it was announced today by S.S. Wheeler, representative of the State Fish and Game Commission.

Carson trustees last night delayed making a decision on granting of a franchise to lay pipelines and supply natural gas in the city until April 21. Seeking franchise rights are Carson Nu-Gas Corp. and Nevada Northern Gas Co.

Carson City’s 20-30 Club team today was celebrating its easy victory over nine other aggregations in last Sunday’s bowling tournament for fraternal organizations and service clubs at Silver State Lanes.
