Minden’s Wendell Jenness currently has photography on display at the Western Nevada College Minden campus. The photography will be on display until May.
Jenness, who looks like he isn’t a day over 60, says he’s in his 80s. He began taking photographs for a hobby when he was 14 years old in a Detroit suburb. After graduating from college, Jenness began teaching chemistry and photography. He was named one of the best teachers in Michigan earning Jenness the opportunity to earn a master’s in chemistry from the University of Michigan.
He left teaching and became an industrial chemist and traveled the world.
“I really saw the world,” he said, adding he lived in Iran, China, South America among other countries. He retired to the Carson Valley 16 years ago and has spent a lot of time taking photographs. He said he’s happy to share his work with others.
“A lot of local photos but some from my (travels)” are on display, he said.
Jenness said he photographs all the subjects he can find “from ants to spiders to elephants and more, whatever I see.”
