Ice. Doc Benton again enters the field this year as the exclusive vendor of ice in this city. Besides the many thousands tons which he put up himself last winter, he is the exclusive agent of the Pacific Ice Company, whose headquarters are at Truckee.

130 years ago

The champion skater. On tomorrow and the following evenings Professor Demers, the champion skater of the world, will give exhibitions at the Opera House. He skates on a table two feet by three and four feet high, and among other things, makes a single spin in which he makes between two and 300 revolutions.

The 1,668 miles of battle-front in Europe are neither straight nor continuos. If they were, they would reach as far as from Portland, Maine to Galveston. Every mile is a continuos tragedy.

The Rambler, by Wes Davis. Along these lines, it has seemed to us Alaska and the Hawaiian islands are due for statehood. At present, they are territories. Growth of communications systems the past few years brings them closer to the mainland and makes statehood practical.

First and second graders from Carson, Stewart, Virginia City, Gold Hill, Silver City and Zephyr Cove received their first injection of Salk polio vaccine this morning at Gleason school.

Sade’s Notes by Sade Grant. Installation of officers for 1965-66 for the Amon Ra Temple of Daughters of the Nile have been held. Mrs. Sallie Jenkins was installed as queen of Amon Ra Temple in the auditorium of the Masonic Temple.
