The State Library. Our young state boasts of the possession of a much larger and more valuable library than the people are generally aware of. As we learn at the Office of the Secretary of State, the number of volumes now upon the shelves is not less than 3,500.

Since the recent earthquake, which caused the flow of hot water at the Carson Hot Springs to be very much reduced, Mr. Brougher has been busy trying to remedy the trouble. A driller has reached a level and a sand pump put down pulling a large amount of sand has been taken out. Now water has reached a decent level.

Dr. Fred Anderson, recently discharged from the Army with the rank of Major, has received a certificate of commendation for especially meritorious service with the Western Pacific based command.

Richard Graves of Los Angeles was elected chairman today of the new California-Nevada Lake Tahoe Study Committee, charged by both state legislatures with finding a plan for orderly development of the Sierra Lake basin.

Rep. Harry Reid, D-Nev., is expected to appeal to Sen. Paul Laxalt, R-Nev., to spearhead a compromise in the Senate on national park and wilderness legislation for Nevada.
