Carson City Salvation Army benefits from Battle of the Bars Toy Drive

The Salvation Army’s Angel Tree Christmas program will benefit from the third annual Battle of the Bars Toy Drive. Local bars and taverns have been collecting toys since late November and will push for a final count at 6 p.m. Saturday. The Salvation Army officials will be “Bar Hopping” Saturday afternoon and evening picking up toys and thanking everyone for their support of this Toy Drive.

The bars and taverns that are participating are: Crossroad’s Lounge, 300 E. Winnie Lane, MJ’s Sports Bar, 3679 S. Carson St., Ed’s Doghouse-3300 Airport Road, Espolon at 10115 Highway, The Twisted Spoke, 3198 N. Deer Run Road and Firkin & Fox, 310 S. Carson St. Suite #100.

The winner and totals from each bar will be announced on the Carson City Salvation Army’s Facebook page.

The Salvation Army Serving Carson City and Douglas County will be providing Christmas gifts for more than 1500 disadvantaged children this Holiday and this is one of the key toy drives. Angel Trees and Barrels are placed in area stores during the first part of November until December 18th. Community members purchase items for children and return the gifts to the store where the angel tree or barrels are located.

Donations can be made at The Salvation Army’s 661 Colorado St. location up through Dec. 24. You can also visit their web page at carsoncitysalarmy.org.
