Council supports women in construction

The Women’s Council of the Nevada Builders Alliance is an organization dedicated to supporting the professional development of women in the construction industry. The Council is made up of women from many construction-related businesses from builders and subcontractors to real estate and finance. The Council is a way for us to show support for our communities as well as the building industry. It also provides its members with educational and networking opportunities, industry recognition and a way to promote their business.

In support of our community, the Women’s Council is proud to implement the following programs:

Helping Hands: Since its inception, the Women’s Council has reached out to Carson City area low-income homeowners to provide much-needed repairs and cosmetic improvements as part of its annual Helping Hands Project. Beginning in 2016, we are proud to announce our partnership with the State of Nevada Department of Health and Human Resources, Aging and Disability Services. This partnership will allow the Women’s Council to expand its reach beyond the Carson City area and utilize its resources year round to assist those in need across the state of Nevada.

Scholarship Program: Beginning in the Fall of 2016, the Nevada Builders Alliance Women’s Council will offer a scholarship at each of our state’s four community colleges. Scholarships will be awarded in increments of $500 per semester to candidates wishing to pursue a career in Construction Technologies, Construction Management and related fields.

In order to fund the Helping Hands Project and its scholarship program, The Women’s Council holds several fund-raisers throughout the year, including 50-50 raffles at many Nevada Builders Alliance events as well as the annual Nevada Day Breakfast at Red’s Old 395 Grill in Carson City.

Membership in the Women’s Council is open to women in all current and prospective Nevada Builders Alliance member companies.
