Bills approved. The governor announced his approval of the bill legalizing the issuance of certain Elko university bonds; also, the bills regulating the rafting of timbers down rivers; the marriage and divorce bill and the bill relative to the transportation of indigent insane and convicts. The Senate then took a recess for an hour and a half, and adjourned to the Assembly to watch the proceedings of the passage of the Elko and Eureka boundary bill over the governor’s veto. After a two-hour recess, the Senate seemed in much better humor.

Dust to dust (continued from Sunday). Out of respect for the event, all business houses in Carson were closed, the Capitol flag hung at half-mast, and the population of this city united with the representatives of every town in the state to make the event memorable and striking. The depositing of the remains in the cemetery was under the auspices of Custer Post No. 5. (Continued on Wednesday.)

Owing to the prosperous outlook under the present administration, the Capitol garage will inaugurate a city auto service at 15 cents per trip to any part of the city. Trip books on sale at reduced prices.

70 years ago

The 20-30 Club had as guest Capt. A. H. Essinger of the Reno Air Base recently. Essinger showed colored movies taken over the Burma-China “hump.” Sgt. Melvin Woodgate, home on leave, discussed his life in Cairo, Egypt, where he has been stationed for several years.

60 Years ago

Carson Lodge No. 1 F&AM will observe its 93rd birthday at its meeting tonight. The pioneer Nevada Masonic lodge was organized Feb. 13, 1862.

Members of the Ormsby County Republican Women’s Club held their first of a series of afternoon social affairs with wives of legislators as guests of honor.
