Suppression of camels and dromedaries. A bill has been introduced into the Assembly by Mrs. Carling of Lyon county providing an Act to prohibit the employment of camels and dromedaries on the public highways in this state. Sylvester Mowry, a member of the corps of U.S. Engineers, recommended to the government that the camel could be used profitably as an auxiliary in traversing our neighboring wasteland. The camels were assigned to duty in Nevada and sold to parties in Lyon County. They became the property of Savillier Gaul, who resides on the old Burch Ranch in Dayton, and were employed in hauling salt.
