Politicians act when they are called out
Why does it take a racist massacre for Dean Heller and his fellow Republicans, Walker, Cruz, Santorum, et al., to find a conscience and divest their campaign treasury of donations made years ago by the white supremacist Council of Conservative Citizens?
The answer is that these politicians simply lack morality until called out.
