Nevada Appeal at 150: Aug. 3, 1962: New T.V. service for Carson

New T.V. service for Carson

A spokesman for Carson T.V. Cable Inc. said that pole line construction is scheduled to begin Aug. 13 and company officials hope to have community antenna television service ready in about two months.

Manager George Plunkett said that construction of a Carson City office on N. Roop Street has been completed and a full time service and office crew will be moved in soon.

Plunkett said the company mountain relay station has been built and is sending a picture to Carson now.

He said that materials for the pole line construction are in Carson at the present time.

“If construction goes as scheduled we will be installing the community antenna service in Carson in about two months,” said Plunkett. He added that many problems hinder construction so it is difficult to pin-point an exact date of service operations.

Carson T.V. Cable is a subsidiary of T.V. Pix Inc. The Pix corporation is presently installing a community antenna service at South Tahoe.

The community antenna will bring in channels 3, 10 and 13 which are the three major network stations. A sports channel out of San Francisco, either 2 or 7, and an educational channel 6, will also service the area.

An F.M. station will also service Carson.

Installation for the service has been set at $49.95 and a monthly charge of $5.95 for the service will be levied. A charge of $2 has been set for additional sets.

This continues the Appeal’s review of news stories and headlines during its Sesquicentennial year.
