Nevada prison says Carson City inmate attacked, hospitalized

Prison officials say a 37-year-old inmate was apparently attacked while in a general population area at the Northern Nevada Correctional Center.

The Nevada Department of Corrections says Joshua Brodsky was airlifted to Renown Hospital in Reno on Tuesday, and doctors performed surgery on the prisoner.

The agency didn’t say how Brodsky was injured or what his condition was.

Officials say the prisoner was originally assigned to the correctional center for medical reasons and was in a wheelchair when he was assaulted.

Brodsky has been in prison since April 8, 2014, serving a sentence of up to five years for coercion.

The agency says its Office of Inspector General is investigating what happened.
