Nevada Appeal at 150: Aug. 20, 1921: Kindergarten to be started in Carson

This continues the Appeal’s review of news stories and headlines during its Sesquicentennial year.

Aug. 20, 1921 — Kindergarten to be started in Carson — Many Carson City parents will be deeply interested in the announcement of Mrs. Francis Murgotten that she will open a kindergarten at the Episcopal rectory about the 1st of September.

Sept. 7, 1921 — That Mrs. Murgotten in establishing a kindergarten is filling a want of the city was indicated by the enrollment of sixteen little tots in the classes yesterday, with the likelihood that more will come and that an assistant teacher will be needed in the near future.

Dec. 24, 1921 — Persons who attended the exercises by the kindergarten class yesterday forenoon praised highly the little tots for their showing and commended the work done by Mrs. Murgotten. General satisfaction with the excellent start in kindergarten work made in this city by the teacher was expressed.
