‘Grease’ 5K benefits Dayton scholarships

Dayton High Stand Tall team is hosting a community “run-a-long,” a play on a sing-a-long, in which runners are invited to wear Grease-inspired costumes.

The race takes place at 7:30 a.m. Saturday, June 6, before the Chamber of Commerce’s annual Oodles of Noodles, an annual street fair and pasta cook-off in Old Town Dayton.

Stand Tall’s annual 5K events benefit Stand Tall Scholarships for local students. Dayton Stand Tall team is part of the nonprofit Healthy Communities Coalition of Lyon and Storey Counties.

The 5K begins at Como Park, at 250 Old Dayton Valley Road, Dayton.

Participants will follow a well-marked course of dirt, sand, and pavement. The event will take place regardless of weather.

Registration, available at the event, costs $20 for adults or $25 for adults who want a T-shirt; $10 for youth or $15 for youth who want a T-shirt; $25 for a group of five or $50 for a group of five that wants T-shirts. Water and snacks will be provided as part of the registration fee.
