Parts of Dayton experienced flash flooding Tuesday night.

The Mark Twain/Dayton area between Virginia City and the Carson River experienced significant flash flooding after severe thunderstorms around 8:30 p.m., said Dustin Homan, Road Supervisor for Lyon County Public Works said.

Crews were out until about 1 a.m. clearing debris, unclogging storm drains and trying to get the water to flow better. Homan said there was no significant property damage from the flooding, though there was some flooding around structures. VT Way and River Road were closed Tuesday night due to large amounts of water flowing across the road.

Currently, Public Works crews are assessing the roads for damage and putting sandbags around certain areas of the city.
