Cheers & Kudos: Tahoe/Douglas Elks thankful for support of ‘Safe Haven’

Tahoe/Douglas Elks Lodge #2670 thanks the community for its support of “Safe Haven,” which are foster homes and facilities for abused children. The fundraising dinner held Saturday, Feb. 28, at the lodge was well attended.

Unfortunately, “Music by Fabrizio” was snowed-in. Elk member Michael O’Connell stepped forward and entertained us with songs of the West.

Guest of honor was Ms. Riley Mello, winner of the 2015 Nevada State Hoop Shoot contest for girls 10-11 division, and past Exalted Ruler Bill Thain.

Dancing at the conclusion of dinner and announcement of winners of the “your choice” drawing and silent auction to a great assortment of music in the juke box.

Many thanks to the donors of “your choice” and silent auction items: Virginia Bennett, Doug and Janet Braman, Carson Valley Inn, Especially For You, Bill Thomas and Marcia Voeller, Pete and Mary Jane Harding, Pat Hamilton, Ironwood Cinemas Minden, JT’s Bar & Dining Room, J.B. and Marie Lekumberry, Stacy Morgen, ReAlignment Healing, The Ridge Resorts, The Record-Courier, Kurt Hildebrand, Rich and Mary Retterer, Sierra Scoop, Lisa Coffron, Pat Hamilton, Evelyn Heath, Shear Heaven, and Steve and Lucette Simon.

Special thanks to the volunteers who assisted with set up, manning the liquid refreshments bar, photographer, preparation of dinner, serving of meals, and the “your choice” drawing and silent auction: Virginia Bennett, Ron Darrington, Pat Hamilton, Bill Jones, John Louritt, Nancy Kjeldergaard, Naomi Mann, Lisa Meinhart, Rich Retterer, Brad and Pat Sikes, Gary Wendt and Blanche Whelan.

A big thank you to “Pat’s Kid’s,” young students who served the meals and cleaned up afterwards: Jenna Frazier, Jordyn Hubbard, Tyler Hubbard, Christopher Merritt and Madi Shek.
