Gov. Brian Sandoval signs bipartisan domestic violence prevention bill

Nevada Gov. Brian Sandoval has signed a bill aimed at educating the public about domestic violence protection.

The Republican governor signed SB 362 into law on Thursday afternoon.

The bill was sponsored by Democratic Sen. Pat Spearman and allows Nevada’s health and human services department to create an educational program focused on preventing domestic violence. It’s part of a state Democratic legislative agenda called the “Nevada Blueprint.”

The measure doesn’t allocate any money to the proposed program but allows it to apply for grants and gifts.

The bill passed unanimously out of the Senate and on a 39-3 vote in the Assembly.
