Jeff Rowan joins team at Miles Construction

Jeff Rowan joined the team of project managers at Miles Construction as mechanical engineer.

With more than 28 years of experience in processing and construction industries, Rowan will be leading Miles’ more complex industrial projects.

Rowan holds a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Lehigh University in Bethlehem, Penn. He holds an ISO 9000 certification.

Jerilyn Johnson joins City National Bank in Minden

City National Bank has hired Jerilyn Johnson as vice president and branch manager of its Minden office, at 1647 Highway 395. With 35 years of banking experience, Johnson is replacing Pam Pugliese, who retired at the end of last month after more than 40 years in banking.

Johnson has spent the past 20 years of her banking career working in the Minden and Gardnerville communities. She will report to Lori Haney, senior vice president and Northern Nevada group manager for City National.

In her new position, Johnson will be responsible for all branch sales and servicing related responsibilities, as well as managing a staff of four at the Minden banking office. She will network through various civic and trade organizations to generate new business opportunities and to promote City National. Johnson will also work closely with other areas of the bank, such as commercial banking services and private client services, to enhance existing relationships and develop new business opportunities.

Prior to joining City National, Johnson worked for Nevada State Bank for 20 years serving in a variety of positions. Most recently she served for six years as small business relationship manager handling clients in Douglas, Carson City, Lyon and Churchill counties. She also served for eight years as market manager, another three years as branch manager, and two years as a teller and operations supervisor where she began her career with Nevada State Bank in 1995.

Prior to moving to Northern Nevada in 1995, Johnson worked for Pacific Thrift & Loan in Encino, Calif.

She began her banking career in 1980 with Topa Thrift & Loan in Century City, Calif.

Johnson has completed a number of professional courses including Omega Cash Flow Analysis. She is also involved in the community serving as past president and current board member of the Carson Valley Chamber of Commerce. She’s past president of the Business Council of Douglas County, current board member and Carson Valley Community Council Chair for the Boys & Girls Clubs of Western Nevada, past president and current Treasurer of Soroptimist International, and a 1999 graduate of Leadership Douglas County.

Nevada Chiropractic Council hosting open house May 13

The newly established Nevada Chiropractic Council board is hosting a launch party on May 13 in Reno.

“We look forward to sharing NCC’s goals and philosophy with both the lay and medical communities,” said NCC secretary Dr. Brad Pastro, BSc, DC and owner of Advanced Chiropractic & Wellness Center in Carson City. “We have created a body where like-minded practitioners can participate and be heard by working to legislatively shape future outcomes for chiropractic in Nevada, provide public education and work to raise awareness, and to maintain what each of us knows, which is chiropractic clears the nerve system of interference, thereby allowing the body to heal itself and function optimally, without the use of drugs or surgery.

Light refreshments will be served at the event, which will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m. At Meadow Wood Courtyard, 5851 S. Virginia St., Reno.
