Carson City downtown project meeting set

Carson City residents can quiz Q&D Construction, the contractor for the city’s downtown makeover, in a Q&A at the Brewery Arts Center in a meeting set for Thursday.

It’s a public meeting and anyone with questions or concerns may attend to have questions answered, according to organizers. A flier noted the meeting is at 5:30 p.m. in the BAC at 449 W. King St. An accompanying news release said the city’s Public Works Department and Lumos and Associates, the designer, are joining Q&D in hosting what was called a mixer to answer questions on details of the multi-million dollar project.

The flier noted beverages and appetizers would be served during the two-hour meeting to provide details of the design and construction of a project narrowing Carson Street, widening sidewalks and adding bicycle lanes, as well as doing a downtown plaza and eventual upgrades on Curry Street. The project’s final design is nearing completion and work is scheduled to begin next year.
