‘LYON’S’ SHARE OF SUPPORT

With school back in session, volunteers in Lyon County rallied to help Silver Stage Elementary School and other Lyon County schools.

Nevada Highway Patrol officers, Lyon County Sheriff’s officers, and North Central Lyon County firefighters collected donations on the weekend of Aug. 15 at the Walmart in Fernley to help students in need around Northern Lyon County.

Teacher Stephanie Thompson with her National Junior Honor Society Students assisted in the collection of school supplies for students at the Fernley schools and Silver Stage Elementary School. The staff and students at Silver Stage Elementary School thank the efforts of all involved.

Lyon County School District Superintendent Wayne Workman read and spent time with Silver Stage Elementary School’s three kindergarten classes on Aug. 28. One of Silver Stage’s goals this year is to improve the proficiency of students in reading and writing.
