Carson City Cultural master plan draft now available

A draft arts and culture master plan for Carson City is available to the public and is going to be reviewed in a Cultural Commission meeting Monday.

The draft can be previewed by the public at this website address: http://www.carson.org/modules/showdocument.aspx?documentid=47345. The public meeting on Monday is at 5:30 p.m. in the Sierra Room at the Carson City Community Center, 851 E. William St. Kendall Hardin of the Idea Factory in Las Vegas, who has been working with the commission, will make a presentation on the plan and provide comments on it.

“The intent of this arts and culture master plan is to support, encourage, expand and celebrate cultural expression in Nevada’s capital city,” said Roger Moellendorf, director of the city Parks and Recreation Department, the unit who provides staff support for the commission.

Hardin is working with the city staff and commission under a Circuit Rider grant the department obtained from the Nevada Arts Council. The Board of Supervisors had charged the commission with crafting such a master plan. Written comments on the draft plan may be submitted to city government by the end of the business day on Friday, Nov. 13 for consideration.

They can be mailed to Vern L. Krahn, senior parks planner, at 3303 Butti Way, Building No. 9, Carson City, 89701, or e-mailed to him at VKrahn@carson.org. For more information, he’s available by telephone at (775) 283-7343.
