Nevada Day events in Carson City

Weather permitting, hot air balloons will float above Carson Street at 8 a.m. near the Carson Mall on Carson Street.

Annual Nevada Day Classic 8K Run and 2 Mile Run/Walk at 8 a.m. at the corner of Telegraph and Curry streets.

Nevada Day Parade: “Nevada: One state, many cultures.” The parade kicks off at 10 a.m. with a flyover of military aircraft.

FamFest, a family-friendly fun zone in the old City Bank parking lot, 308 N. Curry St., will offer food, vendors and live music from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

The 41st Annual Nevada Day World Championship Single Jack Drilling Contest is at 11:05 a.m. in the Carson Nugget’s west parking lot. Entry costs $50.

The 34th annual Nevada Day Chili Feed will be hosted by Sen. Dean Heller and will be held from noon to 2 p.m. at the Carson Nugget Ballroom.

Nevada Day Beard Contest immediately following the parade. This year’s location has changed; the contest will be held on the main stage at the old Citibank building, just southwest of Telegraph Square.
