A global customer-service management company has landed in Reno bringing 500 jobs.

Government and economic development officials Aug. 27 hailed the imminent arrival of Teleperformance U.S.A. to northern Nevada and said the company will open a 45,000-square-foot contact center in Reno at 2863 Northtowne Lane, a former Walmart store. The first group of new employees is expected to start work this month.

“Another great company is joining the Reno family,” said Mayor Hillary Schieve. “We welcome Teleperformance and thank them for their investment in Reno. I can assure you that we will work closely with the Teleperformance team to facilitate their transition to the area.”

Salt Lake City-based Teleperformance provides customer services for various industries. The new 24/7 contact center in Reno will serve an unidentified major financial services company, according to a news release.

Teleperformance employs about 27,000 in the United States.

“We are delighted to continue to grow our U.S. footprint and offer new opportunities to the community in Reno,” said Brian Johnson, CEO of Teleperformance. Reno also offers the business a strategic location with a diverse and talented workforce, said Miranda Collard, the company’s president of enterprise delivery.

“It is exciting to see a global company like Teleperformance which has over 27,000 employees in the U.S,. choose Reno for their expansion,” said Mike Kazmierski, CEO of the Economic Development Authority of Western Nevada. “They are an excellent fit for our community and their commitment to the region reinforces our developing brand as a great place for business.”

Regarding the economic impact of the call center, it’s not just the investment of the company to take on space, build out the space, invest in payroll and taxes, said EDAWN officials. There are also the offset effects such as Teleperformance employees patronizing restaurants, other retailers or out-of-town executives staying in hotels.

Contact center positions available at the new facility include, but are not limited to, customer service representatives, trainers, quality assurance personnel and various leadership positions. Those interested in applying may do so at: www.teleperfor manceusa.com.
