At approximately 9:21 a.m. Wednesday, the Carson City Sheriff’s Office responded to a report of a body floating in the water at the Baily Fishing Pond. The pond is located within Fuji Park at the south end of Carson City, bordering the Douglas County line. The pond is maintained by the Carson City Parks and Recreation Department, and is regularly stocked with fish.
According to initial reports, a fisherman had arrived in the area to fish and witnessed what was described as a presumed older male face down in the water. Sheriff’s Deputies arrived on the scene and verified the incident. Detectives are on scene processing the area. The body will be removed from the waters and taken to the Washoe County Medical Examiner’s Office for an autopsy.
