Mining services firm opens in Battle Mountain

L&H Industrial, Inc., a global leader in engineering and design, manufacturing and repair, and field services for large equipment in the mining, oil & gas, railroad and other heavy equipment industries, has announced its new field services location in Battle Mountain.

The Lander Economic Development Authority and regional economic development partner Northeastern Nevada Regional Development Authority assisted L&H Industrial in finding a turnkey site with transportation access, three-phase power and shop/office space.

L&H Industrial’s new field office is centrally located near the Carlin and Battle Mountain mining districts which help make Nevada the world’s eighth-largest gold producer and 12th-largest silver producer in the world.

Facility Manager Bart Wood said the company is employing a team of technicians at the new Battle Mountain site with competitive pay rates and benefits. The company will focus on mining and mineral processing equipment including machining, welding and repairs along with component upgrades and part sales. With support from the local mining community, plans are to grow the new field office, he said.

Jan Morrison, community development director for Lander County, said a former mining service contractor’s site on Trescott Avenue proved to be the ideal location as it was one of the few “ready-to-go” locations in the region with a lay-down yard and metal building.

“We worked with NNRDA to take the location criteria from L&H Industrial and apply those to our site databases,” Morrison said. “Our new partnership with NNRDA proved valuable in quickly assessing the right sites and getting those opportunities to the client in a timely fashion.”

Founded in 1964, L&H Industrial’s headquarters are in Gillette, Wyo. It has been serving the Nevada mining industry through a field office in Tooele, Utah, which the company has shut down as the Nevada location offers better access to the local mines, which comprise 90 percent of its regional business, Wood said.
