Soroptimist of Comstock presents awards

Soroptimist International of the Comstock recently presented awards to Cassidy Dore and Cheryl Ann MacDonald.

The Violet Richardson award, given to a young women for her volunteering and leadership qualities, was given to Cassidy Dore of Silver Stage High School for her work in Stand Tall and the S Club. She’s being given $100 to donate to her favorite charity.

The Live Your Dream Award, presented to women who have primary financial responsibility for themselves and their families, went to Cheryl Ann Mac Donald, who’s receiving a $500 scholarship.

Soroptimist International of the Comstock sponsors two S Clubs who work to improve the lives of students in their high schools and community. They have provided food for the food banks, worked to bring the mammogram mobile to the community and other projects. Certificates of appreciation were awarded to Ashle Overlock for the hundreds of hours dedicated to the mentoring of students in the S Clubs at Silver Stage High.
