A proposal for appointment of a tentative committee to arrange ways and means to acquire Bowers Mansion as a recreation center for the general public was announced following a meeting of Nevadans, Inc., Monday night.
Officials said last night, in discussing the plans: “Bowers Mansion in its historical background, natural scenery, bathing facilities, ease of access, where the pine trees meet the valley, should be the park for western Nevada. The premises contain 56 1/4 acres, with hot and cold water and electric energy naturally provided. More than 50 picnics were held there during 1939.”
Since the acquisition of the Carson mint building, there has been created the Nevada Museum of Art Institute for Nevada people, and to this the Nevadans promised support.
