No mail yesterday. We got no mail from California yesterday. As near as we can come to an understanding of a reason is — yesterday was the beginning of a new arrangement whereby passengers are to lay over one night at Strawberry instead of coming right through as they have been all winter.

Both the hardware firms of Muller & Schmitt and E.B. Rail have decided not to sell anything whatever to the Chinese. The Chinese who called at these stores yesterday were told to go elsewhere. The executive committee of the League, however, decided it would be inhuman to refuse the Chinese any food commodity, as the league had no intention of starving anyone.

William Murray, the newly appointed postmaster of Carson, resigned his position as janitor of the public schools on Saturday. Mr. Murray presented each of the teachers and the two professors with a beautiful bouquet of carnations as a token of his friendship to them all.

The Capitol Auto Court, located at the corner of Fifth and Ormsby streets, was sold this week to John Prida, originally of Winnemucca and more recently from Gerlach. Purchase of the court was made from Paul Jensen of Carson City.

Nate Helmer, Carson City automotive dealer and president of the Ormsby County Young Democrats Club, announced today he would back Charles Springmeyer for governor of Nevada and become his campaign manager for Northern Nevada counties.

Carson City’s liability insurance runs out Saturday. Supervisor Bill Burnaugh said he thinks the city should drop its present policy with annual premiums of $200,000 and become self-insured.
