Carson City Chamber seeks applicants for leadership program

The Carson City Chamber of Commerce’s is now seeking applicants for its 2016-2017 Leadership Institute which is now in its 27th year.

The Chamber’s Leadership Institute includes nine months of intensive learning in which members meet the second Thursday of each month.

Leadership is for those new to the city: The salesperson, the new business owner, the budding entrepreneur. Leadership is also for those who have lived or worked in the city for a long time.

The Leadership Institute schedule is as follows:

Wednesday, Oct. 19 and Thursday, Oct. 20: Two-day Session and Overnight Leadership 2016 begins with a mandatory two-day session and overnight stay. All participants are expected to attend both days and to stay overnight.

Nov. 10: An insider’s look at city government; December 8: Secondary education: training the workforce for tomorrow; Jan. 12: Fighting crime: an insider’s view of the Sheriff’s office, courts and district attorney’s office; Feb. 9: Higher education: Workforce readiness with emphasis on manufacturing. March 9: Insider’s look at state government; April 13: In case of emergency: Is Carson City prepared; May 11: Challenges facing health and human services organizations; June 8: Quality of life: Sports, recreation, cultural, historical and tourism assets.

Graduation: TBA

A deposit of $250 is due by Sept. 16 and full tuition of $750 is due by Oct. 5. Applications must be submitted with a $250 deposit and received at the Carson City Chamber of Commerce, 1900 South Carson St., Carson City 89701 no later than 4:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 16.
